Why Kobe’s winning shot eclipsed the sadness he felt a year ago

07 Dec

Last season when the Lakers met Miami Heat on 19th December 2008, the Heat won the game 89-87. With less than three seconds remaining on the clock, Kobe Bryant made the final shot in which the ball circled the rim and somehow failed to go in. The win helped the heat snap out of their three-game losing streak they had experienced. As Kobe was leaving the court he was just shaking his head wondering why the rim had denied him.

Almost one year later, Kobe Bryant found himself in the same position. The Lakers trailing by a half a basket with less than one second left on the clock, Kobe made the final shot that was smoothly escorted by the fans eyes as the ball rose to the air and made its way successfully into the basket. The Lakers won the match 108-107. The winning shot without a doubt has now overshadowed the sadness Kobe felt a year ago.

NBA- Lakers lose again – this time against the Houston Rockets

18 Nov

The LA Lakers couldn’t control the Houston Rockets and lost in a second consecutive game Sunday night at the Staples Center
101-91. First Denver beat the Lakes 105-79 two nights ago; then in the second game the LA team was booed by its own supports after playing some very poor basketball against the Rockets. The Lakers haven’t been beaten this badly at the Staples Center for a while, but the bad news didn’t end there. Bryant’s groin injury, incurred in the game against the Hornets, has not shown improvement and had him limping in the end of the night. Although Byrant denied its seriousness, he didn’t look good. Nor has the absence of Paul Gasol hasn’t helped the Lakers any. The host team started out strong, with a 16-2 run in the first 3 minutes of the game. However, Brooks got hot and the Rockets ended the quarter down by just six points, 29-23. The Lakers tried to expand their lead in the second quarter and managed with two shots in the first minute of the quarter to extend their lead to nine points. Nevertheless, the Rockets’ team work along with a free throw from Ariza took the lead putting the score at 44-43 with 3:29 left in the quarter. However, Bynum finally got the ball and scored to baskets taking the Lakers to the lead at the end of the quarter to close the first half with a 54-52. The third quarter was really intense as both teams were trying to control the action with back and forth baskets, running the score up and down both ways. However, in the last five minutes of the third, Houston took the control of the offense and took a seven-point lead, ending the quarter 70-63. During the fourth quarter, things looked even tougher for the Lakers, whose lack of confidence was evidenced by poor play. Kobe Bryant’s shooting game was off and none of his teammates stepped up to the plate. Of course, as their coach pointed out, it would have helped if they would have passed the ball more often to Bynum, their leading scorer.

1. Michael Jordan

Jordan is really not very weak in the basketball game. He was a tireless advocate as evidenced by his 9 All 1 defensive team selection, as well as victory in the defensive player of the year. “He was also the most dominant offensive force of his generation, entered the bout with double and triple team every game so far scoring a career 30,1 PPG pace. Michael Jordan had 10 scoring tiles, 5 season MVP Awards, 6 finals MVP 6 awards and championship titles.

2. Wilt Chamberlain

Statistically, Wilt Chamberlain should be number one in this list. In one game he has scored 100 points on them! In another game, he scored 58 points and pulled down 45 rebounds. His most amazing stat I think that he had never polluted the game throughout his NBA career. He is absolutely Off schedule career numbers 30,1 PPG, 22,9 RPG, .540 FGP%. Chamberlain was more than 7 meters tall, can run and jump as the “Gazelle” and was one of the most powerful men on two legs. From the fall Wilt only won one NBA championship and was the notorious poor free throw Shooter.
He may have won more championships if he does not have to deal with a large team Celtics their time almost every year in the playoffs.

3. Bill Russell

You can not argue with the victory, and Bill Russell and the Celtics won 11, and I repeat 11 NBA championship.
Not much more to talk about Bill other then he was a fierce competitor, tenacious rebounder, consummate team player and was born a winner.
